The Apple Pencil 2nd Generation really adds to the experience of my new iPad mini 6. It is so easy to set up and use, I can’t imagine how I did without it for so long. So much better than the apple first-generation Pencil
Apple Pencil 2nd Generation pencil is awesome and I would not go without it. I use it for many of my apps, etc. It saves the screen from getting fingerprints all over it. I love the fact it sits right on top of the iPad. It also charges right in its place. When the iPad is being charged so is your pencil.
The addition of tap functionality on the flat edge of the Pencil makes it an even more compelling option for artists. Rather than having to touch the display, users can simply tap the pencil to swap between tools, which makes for an uninterrupted drawing experience.

Use Apple Pencil with the iPad Locked
Simply go to Settings > Notes and under Lock Screen and Control Center you can turn it on. You can even set it to always create a new note or resume the last one.
Use Apple Pencil’s Scribble Gestures
- Delete text: simply scratch out the text you want to delete
- Select text: draw a circle over the text you want to select
- Insert text: touch and hold the place where you want to add a word (or words).
- Join words: if scribble accidentally converted a word into two words (for example, if ‘hello’ got written as ‘hello’),
- Separate words: conversely, if two words accidentally got mushed together, you can simply draw a line in the middle of the word you want to separate.
Easily View Remaining Battery
You can navigate to Settings > Apple Pencil and check up on your Apple Pencil’s battery from there.
Customize the double-tap gesture
You can customize the double-tap gesture on the Pencil to perform a variety of tasks, such as switching between tools or activating the eraser. To customize this gesture, go to the “Apple Pencil” section in the “iPad” settings.
Practice with different strokes
The Pencil can recognize different types of strokes, such as light or heavy, to produce different effects in compatible apps. Experiment with different strokes to see what works best for you.
Use the Pencil with the eraser
The Pencil has an eraser on the opposite end of the nib. You can use this to quickly erase mistakes or to create a textured effect by “drawing” with the eraser.
